ANGUILLARA
SABAZIA
Anguillara
Sabazia rises on a cape (180 mt.s.l.m.) which pints to the Lake of
Bracciano, 27 km far from Rome. It
is an old medieval village, whose name comes from the ancient villa
"Angularia" of Rutilia Polla (I century a.C.). As feudo it
was governed by various noble families, between these there was the
Orsini, and as testimony of this it is possible to visit the
Baronial Palace, rich of frescoes of the school of Raffaello, the
Tower and the Door Castle. Famous the neolithic village discovered
under waters of the lago, and it seems to be the first village of
Europe, where has been found two wood boat dated beyond 5500 years
a.c. Currently they are conserved in the National Museum Preistorico
Etnografico "L. Pigorini". |

BRACCIANO
LAKE
This
lake is situated in the north of Rome in the mountains Sabatini,
with volcanic origin, it is extended on a surface of
57,5 kmēs with a maximum depth of 164m. and a circumference
of 32km.. On his shores there are the centers of Bracciano,
Trevignano,Anguillara and the Vigna airport of
Valle not used anymore as military airport, but as historical
Museum of the Military Aeronautic. During the summer it is possible
to take a round of the lake by boat. |
